Why and how the art work was made:
The genesis:
My artist friend Katia, who lives in Berlin, is the widow of the Greek artist Pantelis Sabaliotis. The painting is part of a series of 17 small-format works for which I used exclusively and completely exactly the oil colours that the artist left behind unused due to his early and unexpected death twelve years ago.
I transferred the colours directly from the tube, undiluted and unmixed, onto the canvases. In this way, they fulfil their actual, invisible purpose. An appreciation for my friend and the work of her late husband. As this painting is in the collection of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, it is also a homecoming to Greece - even if only in the form of my painting.
The painting was commissioned and has been part of the collection of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, Greece, since April 2025.
